“Too much mud for a counteroffensive”. But maybe it’s a communication tactic
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said expectations of a Ukrainian counter-offensive were “a bit overheated”. The minister added that we are “walking on uneven ground” so “we don’t know what to expect, nor what the terrain will be like, nor the ground, nor the weather”.
This video has been circulating since yesterday on Telegram channels and pro-Ukrainian Twitter profiles, especially those close to the army, and shows a ground that is actually still too muddy for troops and vehicles on the ground to move quickly. “Under these conditions, the counter-offensive will not take place so quickly,” it says, for example, on a Twitter profile with almost five thousand followers that it published.
However, it’s not possible to verify the date the video was taken, it could be recent or older, and it’s a Ukrainian communications tactic to hide an imminent attack. For the next few days, however, the weather report shows rising temperatures and little precipitation.
