Watch the moment two friends finally kiss after a year separated by border restrictions

The pandemic has left Johanna Innes waiting almost a year to see her longtime best friend Katie Pym, despite only living a 30-minute drive away.

The problem for Innes, a Canadian doctor, is that she lives and works in Buffalo, NY, but Pym lives in St. Catharines, Ont.

Quarantine requirements delayed their long-awaited reunion until recently – and Innes shared this story with The National, as seen in the video above.

The National take a look at a series of meetings delayed by the pandemic this week – all personal, all emotional, all stories of people who have waited too long to be together.
